Obituary for Margarito Salazar
Joe Margarito Salazar went home to be with our Lord on Friday, Dec. 4, at the age of 90. Joe was born on Oct. 15, 1925 in San Jose, New Mexico.
He resided in Vacaville for over 50 years. Joe met his wife of 70 years, Mary Roybal, at the shipyards in Oakland when he was in the U.S. Army. They had four children, seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grand-children. Joe worked for American Home Foods in Vacaville. He loved fishing, gardening, playing bingo, and watching football. He was a member of the Vacaville Moose Lodge for over 40 years, and was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Leroy (Louise) Salazar; daughter, MaryAnn (Pat) Flores; son, Willie (Yvonne) Salazar; grandchildren, Gina Cordero, Lena Lawson, Danielle Gish, Richard Flores, Alicia Desmarais, Daniel Salazar, and Christopher Salazar; great grand-children, Justin and Steven Lassen, Eddie Cordero, Nathan Lawson, Kyla, Shayley, and Brayden Gish, Solomon and Sophia Flores, Stephanie Hazel-wood-Price, Elijah, Maliyah, and Amayah Desmarais.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Carlota Tapia; adopted parents, Raymond and Eleanor Salazar; son, Joey Salazar, and great-grandson, Carlos Ventura. Joe had nine brothers and four sisters.
He was loved dearly and will be missed. Services will be held Monday, Dec. 14, at McCunes Chapel 212 Main St., Vacaville; viewing from 11 to 12:15 p.m., prayer service from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., with burial from 2 to 2:30 p.m., at Sacramento Valley National Military Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon.
