Obituary for Rebecca McCord-Sek (Becky)
Rebecca McCord-Sek (Becky) beloved wife of Jonathan Sek, mother of Daniel Sek, and daughter of Bill and Mary McCord went to be with the Lord on Sept. 25. She is survived by her husband and son, her parents and her sister, Cindy McCord Bonagura (Glenn) and brother, Ron McCord (Mary); her nephews and nieces Kyle and Ryan Bonagura, Michael McCord, and Kristina and Cory Davenport, several aunts and uncles, cousins and her four great nieces. She attended Vacaville schools, graduating from Vacaville High School in 1977. Her career at Cisco was cut short as Multiple Sclerosis began to limit her activities. Despite physical limitations she maintained her home and coached, her son's little league team. At the time she was diagnosed with wide spread cancer, Becky, had been hired to develop a teaching program for the M.S. Support phone line, MS Friends. Many remember Becky as the girl who tap danced, winning many awards along with her sister, Cindy. At age 12, she was the first California Little Miss, and at age 15 the first California Miss. As a young adult, she became 1st runner up to Miss Santa Clara County. Becky did not allow her disabilities to define her. Her positive outlook on life was what family and friends thought and remarked about. She was fiercely independent not wanting anything done for her that she could do for herself (which was just about everything). She and her husband found peace and contentment in planting and cultivating their vegetable and flower gardens. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m., at Orchard Avenue Baptist Church, 301 N. Orchard Ave., Vacaville.
