Obituary for Kenneth 'Jiggs' Eugene Whitaker
Ken, better known as 'Jiggs', was born in Stadium, Washington on June 18th 1925. Growing up in logging camps, he loved the outdoors. Especially hunting, fishing and snowmobiling with family and friends. Ken was a man of many stories and oh the stories he could tell! Weather it was him being carried away by a mountain lion as an infant or fighting the appalling heat and swelter of the South Pacific, Ken would have you captivated. Ken served his country proudly in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He saw this life from the ground and sky. Flying with the greatest of crews on the B-17, B-29, B-36, C-124 and the C-133. He eventually retired from the Air Force with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, having served a total of 24 years. After retiring from the Air Force he worked at Boeing and as a captain for private and commercial enterprises flying the 707, 747 and the 727. He also loved flying his helicopter and Cessna. The cockpit was his office. A loved man with remarkable achievements, Ken will be missed by many. A husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Ken is survived by his wife, four lovely daughters, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother, sister, nieces and nephews. See you in Heaven Jiggs.....'God willin' and the creek don't rise'. Interment will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Washington.
