Obituary for Atha Ann Rewis
Born in Mulberry, Ark., Atha was the third daughter of Martha and Frank Bourland. She was raised in Oklahoma during the Great Depression. She and her family moved to Richmond, Calif., during World War II. Working as a waitress, she met and married the love of her life, J.B. (Roy) Rewis, who survives her after 65 years of a strong and loving union. She is further survived by her daughter, Pamela Rewis of Vacaville; sister, Edna Swegles of Richmond; niece, Rhonda (Lloyd) Fisher of Alamo; niece, Judy (Mel) Sasges of Everett, Wash.; nephew, John Gregory (Cathie) Sasges of Pinole; nieces, Debra (Mel) Donia of Stockton, and Candy, Cindy and Liz Reynolds all of Lodi; and grandnephew, Stephen (Tonya) Fisher of Antioch. Also, Ann is survived by lifelong friends, Frieda and Johnny Roberts of Vacaville; 'adopted' daughter, Terry Cater of Vacaville, Lola Prado of San Pablo and Danette Skyles of Vacaville. Ann was a 30-year active member of the Church of Christ (Fir Street congregation). She was an avid bowler and dedicated homemaker. She was famous for her coconut cream pies, southern style meals and 'boney' sandwiches. She passed quietly surrounded by loved ones at the Vacaville Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center from complications of a fractured neck. Special thanks go out to her wonderful caregivers Lola Prado, Diane Bussell and Norma Marcum. Services to be held at the Vacaville Church of Christ, 401 Fir St., Vacaville, on April 23 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
