Obituary for Nicolas Medina
Nicolas Medina
Longtime resident of Fairfield
March 5th, 1931 - Sept 6th, 2021

Nicolas Medina passed away after a long battle with complications from a stroke. The youngest of 7 children, he joined the US Air Force upon graduating from high school. He was honorably discharged after 8 1/2 years of active duty. Thereafter, he served 21 years in Civil Service as an Aircraft Sheet Metal Technician and a Fuel Systems Mechanic. He was married in 1955 to Gloria Cooper, and in 1974 to Pamela Kay Gillespie.

In retirement he and his wife traveled much of the western US and Central America by RV, in addition to many cruises to Italy, Alaska, and Mexico as well as a trip to China. He loved boating, fishing, crabbing, water skiing, snow skiing, and camping trips throughout Northern California, especially at Lake Berryessa. A mainstay of these trips were his many grandchildren and Gizmo, his beloved Chihuahua. Never slowing down, he also taught line dancing classes at multiple venues for years after operating a cantina at Mankas Corner.

An advocate for his neighborhood, he was successful in getting the city to enact ordinances regulating semis parking in residential areas. Nicolas was a longtime member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and also served as a counselor for the Equal Employment Opportunity program at Travis Air Force Base. He was also a volunteer for Meals On Wheels in the Solano County area.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pamela Kay Medina, sons Stephen Medina MD (Sharon) of Catoosa OK and David Medina of Hayfork, CA, daughters Linda Harvey (Daniel) of Fairfield, CA, Carla Gregory (Eric) of Vacaville, CA, and Elena Wells (Jeff) of Fairfield, CA, stepchildren Rick Wildebaur (Lisa) of Clovis, CA, Robert Wildebaur (Joe) of Diamond Springs, CA, and Tammy Frandsen (Dan) of Cordelia, CA. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, one niece, and stepson Russell Wildebaur.

Services will be held at 1 pm on Oct 18th at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon CA, 95620.
