Yvonne Marlene (Angotti) Johnson passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 28, 2023, in Vacaville, CA, where she had resided since 1995. She spent 2023 embracing her relationships and enjoying the simple pleasures of life including God’s creations, word games, bingo, and following her favorite sports teams.
Yvonne was born on May 26, 1936, in Richmond, CA to Joseph Angotti, Jr and Marie Elizabeth (Lambrecht) Angotti. Yvonne, an only child, grew up in Crockett, CA, with her parents and paternal grandfather. She attended Carquinez Elementary School and graduated from John Swett High School in 1954. She had a large extended family, as her mother was one of 13 children, and most of that family lived locally. She was exceptionally close to her first cousin, Carol, who was like a sister to her.
Yvonne met her husband, Robert (Bob) Johnson at the age of 14 at a school dance. They married at the age of 18 and had two children. Yvonne spent most of her life as a homemaker and caregiver to five generations of family members. She taught Catechism at St. Rose Church in Crockett, served as a Den Mother for her son’s Cub Scout group, and actively participated in all her children’s many extra-curricular activities. She welcomed all her children’s friends into the home, and gladly fed them.
She continued to care about others until the last two days of her life when she expressed readiness to her daughter that she was ready to join her husband of 54 years, who had preceded her in death in 2008. Yvonne is survived by her daughter, Roxanne (David), and son, Robert, Jr aka Marc (Lisa), four biological grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, a step granddaughter-in-law, two step great grandchildren, and a great grandbaby she was blessed to meet four days before she left her mortal body.
Yvonne was a kind and loving spirit whose memory will live on forever among those whose lives she touched with compassion, humor, and just the right amount of “sass.”
