Obituary for William 'Bill' J. Vest
William Bill J. Vest
June 8, 1929 - Jan. 26, 2011
William had enjoyed a healthy and active life, so being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor three and a half years ago was quite a shock . With courage and grace he blessed us with his presence and clarity for a miraculous additional three and a half years.
William Vest passed peacefully at his home in Vacaville surrounded with the love of his wife Penny and three daughters Liz, Angela and Michelle.
William J. Vest is a fifth generation descendent of an Irish family who came to America in 1833. Williams fathers family - from County Cork, Ireland and Williams mothers family - from County Wexford, Ireland.
William graduated in 1947 from Armijo High School in Fairfield, Calif. He became a partner with his father in the family cattle business in Suisun, CA.
William began his 60 year Real Estate career in 1950. In 1954 he opened Vest Realty in Fairfield and in 1976 Bill and Penny opened Vest Realty in Vacaville.
Throughout his career as a Real Estate Broker, William specialized in real estate sales and marketing, land development, subdivision sales management and land acquisition.
William (Bill) loved traveling to Europe with his wife Penny. His lifetime passion for horses ranged from horse shows with his daughters, to raising and racing appaloosa race horses. He also had a special interest in family genealogy. Bill was a devoted member of St. Marys Parish. Bill thoroughly enjoyed his special family time, grandchildren, family poker nights, and morning walks in the park with his best buddies.
William is survived by his wife of 50 years, Penny Vest; daughter and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Jerry Bringham of Sacramento, Angela and Eric Moore of Vacaville, and Michelle Vest of Vacaville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice M ock of Hayward, Calif., Joan and Joe Conji of Concord, Calif., Mary Leary of Hawaii, Ann and Guy Boardman of Vacaville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pamela Smeenk of Green Valley, Cynthia and Ed Atkinson of Lincoln, Patricia and Tim Daniels of Menlo Park, Catherine De Los Santos of Menlo Park, Tom and Debbie Garcia of Vacaville; five grandchildren, Brittany, Shane and Austin Moore of Vacaville, Grant and Brooke Bringham of Sacramento.
