Obituary for Wendy Wasserman-Kellogg
On September 27, 2018, Wendy lost her nearly 5 year battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer. She passed peacefully at Vaca Valley Hospital with her immediate family by her side. Wendy was born in Bitburg, Germany on April 24, 1954 to parents Morry and Betty Wasserman. She came to Vacaville in 1957 by way of the US Air Force. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications Studies from California State University Sacramento. In October 1980 she married Jim Kellogg. They enjoyed their first 7 years of marriage traveling the world before settling down in Vacaville and raising their two children, Logan and Rebecca. Wendy, and her parents owned and operated Wasserman Travel beginning in 1978. Her husband joined them in business in 1982. He now carries on the legacy of Wasserman Travel. Wendy is survived by her immediate family including husband, Jim Kellogg; son Logan Kellogg and his wife Grace; daughter Rebecca Kellogg; mother Betty Wasserman; brother Gary Wasserman, his wife Debbie, and his children Megan, Ben, and Max; and brother Wayne Wasserman. Her father, Morry Wasserman, co-founder of Wasserman Travel, preceded her in death on July 18, 2017 at the age of 96. Wendy was an active member of the Vacaville community and involved in numerous philanthropic organizations. Her encyclopedia of accomplishments and community involvement include President of Soroptimist International of Vacaville (1987-1988), Board Member of the Downtown Vacaville Business Improvement District (2008-2012), and most recently, she was serving on the NorthBay Healthcare Foundation Board (2016-2018), and the NorthBay Healthcare Patient and Family Advisory Board (2017-2018). She and her husband were also honored to serve as Vacaville Fiesta Days Grand Marshals in 2013. In her limited free time she was also a successful independent beauty consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics. Many refer to Wendy as the Shining Star of Vacaville. Her smile lit up a room and her personality was infectious. While her light may have dimmed her spirit will live on through her family and the community. There will be a private family burial at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery Friday November 9th 2018 followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:30am at CC Yin Ranch located at 6319 Pleasants Valley Road Vacaville Ca 95688. The family would like to specially thank the Nursing staff at Vaca Valley Hospital, Dr. Terry Van Aken, Dr. James Long, as well as the NorthBay Oncology Department for providing the epitome of excellent healthcare to make Wendy comfortable in her final days.
