Obituary for Virginia M. Kraus
Virginia Mae Olsen Kraus Aug. 31, 1920 - March 2, 2013 Virginia Mae Olsen Kraus was born in Pontiac, Illinois on Aug. 31, 1920 and born to eternal life in Vacaville, Calif., on March 2, at the age of 92. Virginia was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She married her beloved husband, Carl Kraus, on July 19, 1941. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Herman and Hattie Olsen; grandpa, Foster; husband, Carl Joseph Kraus and brother, Robert Andrew Olsen. She is survived by her daughters, Carla Kraus Tuyls and Michelle Kraus; son-in-law, James Tuyls; grandchildren, Danielle and Kristina Tuyls; and great grandchild, Jade Hargrove. Virginia was an accomplished artist and painted beautiful oil paintings. She worked at the Black Hawk in Chicago sketching dinner customers in the late 1930's. She also worked for the FBI in Springfield, Illinois as a secretary. She loved being with her family, relaxing and reading in the solarium, rummage sales, bargain shopping, decorating, boating on the lake in Sanford, Michigan, where she lived with James and Carla for 10 years, gardening and spending time with her Collies. After her stroke in 2007, she resided at Vaca Valley Convalescent and Rehab Center for the past five years. The family wishes to thank Dr. Terrell Van Aken, her physician and friend, Joe Niccoli, and the entire staff of VCRC. Special thanks to her daily caregivers, Bernie, Ledi, Sally, Rene', Maria, Mona, Sunny, Cecelia, Hamid and Aileen who treated all of us like family. The funeral will be private. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and brother in Wisconsin.
