Obituary for Viola Dambrosio
Viola Dambrosio
January 25, 1921 November 16, 2009
Los Banos, the community of her birth, was home for Viola Dambrosio for almost all of her 88 years. Viola was a graduate of Los Banos High School and worked for the State Department of Employment and Los Banos Dairymens Association. Her most lengthy journey outside of Los Banos, was to serve in the Navy WAVES from 1943-1946 where she was stationed in Washington, D.C. Viola worked in the Navy Department Annex and served as Yeoman Second Class. She was a Charter Member of the Womens National Memorial in Arlington, Virginia, one of her proudest accomplishments. Throughout her life, Viola was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and, in later years, was a member of the Los Banos Golden Agers.
Violas highest accomplishment, however, was that of dedicated wife, mother, and Nani. A strong and purposeful guardian, she served her family with true grace and unselfish dedication. Viola cooked, she sewed, she listened, she guided, and she loved. A voracious reader, she was an inspiring role model for education.
In 2000, Viola lost her beautiful daughter, Jana Kerwin, to cancer. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Dambrosio; daughter Annette Dambrosio and husband Tom Warren; son-in-law Jim Kerwin, and grandchildren Chelsea and Patrick Kerwin. The fifth of nine children, Viola is survived also by sister Floretta Mangus, and brothers Gene Dambrosio and Donald Dambrosio, in addition to other caring family members and numerous lifelong friends.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 11:00 a.m., at the Los Banos Cemetery. Memorial luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, her family wishes that any donations be given to:
