Obituary for Vincent Bernard Goodson
Vincent Bernard Goodson, a leap year baby, passed away on the 4th of July at the young age of 21-1/2 (born 02/29/24). Growing up, he was enthralled with flight and loved to build gas-powered model planes, and even carved his own wood propellers. When WWII started, his dream of flying became a reality and he piloted C-47s for the Army Air Force. Towards the end of the War he served as a flight instructor at March Field in Southern California. He also served in the Korean War and later became a career officer of the Air Force, providing his family a World-wide travel adventure with assignments in Japan, Hawaii, Texas, Bermuda, and finally, Vacaville. Although Major Goodson retired from the Air Force in 1965, he continued his career in military air transport as a civil service employee until full retirement in 1986.Preceding him in death are his mother and step-father Martha and August Wente, brother George Wente, son Paul Goodson, first wife Dorothy Taber and second wife Beverly Halberg. He leaves behind son John (Mary), daughters Debbie (Mark) and Diana (Richard), brother Don (Peggy), six grandchildren, one great-grandson, and a great-granddaughter to be. Graveside service will be held Monday, July 12, 10 a.m. at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
