Obituary for Victoria Regina Borrell
Victoria Regina Borrell was born on October 29, 1966 in Plattsburg, NY to Peggy and Muriel Hatley. As the daughter of an Air Force sergeant, Vicky moved many times during her childhood. She lived in New York, Texas, New Mexico, and California.
In 1971, Muriel was stationed at Travis AFB. The family lived on base for several years, before moving to Vacaville in 1975. Vicky received most of her education at Faith Academy, Vacaville, graduating in 1985. She also attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC.
While attending Sunday School at the base chapel, Vicky heard the gospel message and received Christ as her Savior. Shortly after this, her mom Peggy came to faith in Christ as well and Muriel grew closer to the Lord as the family made Vacaville Bible Church their church home.
For several years after high school Vicky taught Pre-school at Faith Academy. This was a position that she enjoyed as she had a love for children. This love for children led to her longtime position as Nursery Coordinator at Vacaville Bible Church, where Vicky was an active member (since 1973).
It was at Vacaville Bible Church that Vicky met and married Scott Borrell. They had three children, Seth Michael Borrell, Ashley Kathleen (Borrell) Ashton, and Kevin Scott Borrell.
Vicky had a great love for the Lord, her family and most especially her children. Vicky loved to bake, listen to Irish music, and shop! She had a great sense of humor and loved comedies, and teasing with Seth, Kevin and Ashley!
In April of 2016, Vicky was diagnosed with cancer, at which time the Lord in His wisdom directed her and her family to the Oncology Department at UC Davis, where she had a team of physicians who worked tirelessly to do everything possible to prolong her life and enable her to enjoy her remaining days. Vicky’s sweet disposition and gentle spirit earned her the title of, “happiest chemo patient ever” from the staff there.
Vicky will be remembered by all for her great faith that sustained her during her long and courageous battle with cancer. She was a source of hope, encouragement and comfort to all who knew her as she never complained about all she was going through but pointed to Christ as her rock and refuge.
On Sunday, October 22, 2017, Vicky entered the presence of her Lord surrounded by her loving family. Vicky departed this world with the same grace, humility and courage with which she lived her life.
Vicky is survived by her loving family members: her parents, Muriel and Peggy Hatley; her children Staff Sergeant Seth Borrell (Stephanie), Ashley Borrell Ashton (Daniel), PV2 (Private 1st Class) Kevin Borrell.
She is also survived by her sister Teresa Haines; Uncle and Aunt Don and Barbara Spees; Aunt Ruby and Uncle Britt Kimble; Aunt Patricia Certain; along with their children whom Vicky was especially close to and who loved and admired her greatly.
The family wishes to express their appreciation all who have supported us during these months through cards, letters, flowers, meals, help and kindness and especially for the many prayers offered on our behalf.
