Vicki Gene Walberg (née Lorenzo), 75, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, at her home in Vacaville, California, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born on September 5, 1949, at Bunney Hospital in Fairfield, California to Victor and Phyllis (Gravos) Lorenzo. She graduated from Vacaville High school in 1967. Vicki pursued her education at Solano Community College and Sacramento State University. Her professional journey began at Pacific Bell, where she worked from December 1973 until December 1989. She then continued her career at the University of California, Davis, from May 1990 until her retirement in June 2003.
Vicki lived in several places across California throughout her life, including Kings Beach and Sacramento. One of the most meaningful chapters of her life came after retirement, when she and her beloved husband, Steven Walberg, built their dream cabin on Ox Yoke Lake in Minnesota—a place that brought them immense joy. Steven preceded her in death in 2012.
A passionate genealogist, Vicki spent countless hours researching her family’s history. She also had a deep love for gardening and found peace and purpose tending to her plants. In her final days, she was surrounded by love and comfort. Fulfilling her wish, she remained at home with her cat, Felix until the end.
Vicki is lovingly remembered by her son Brian Walberg and her daughter-in-law, Sarah (Williams) Walberg of Georgia; Nicholas Walberg of Vacaville; her stepson, Steven Walberg of Nevada; her grandchildren, Andrew Walberg of Vacaville and Jordan Walberg of Georgia; and her sisters, Cathy Kincaid of Vacaville, Nancy Lorenzo of Hawaii and Tracy Martinez of Vacaville. She also leaves behind extended family and many friends across the country.
A celebration of Vicki’s life will be at Living Hope Church, located at 410 Gateway Dr, Dixon, on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 2pm to 4pm. Vicki will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Riverside Cemetery in Royalton, Minnesota.
