Obituary for Vicki D. Hughes
Vicki D. Hughes, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, surrounded by family, after her battle with ALS. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dennis Hughes; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew & Jordan Hughes; daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth & John (Marty) Wyma-Hughes; sister and brother-in-law, Michelle DeDeaux-Vado & Dan Vado; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Sandra (Terstegge) DeDeaux & Elmo DeDeaux, Jr.
Like a rock thrown into a lake, the ripples of her kindness, gentle nature and quiet goodness will continue to be felt by all who knew her. She was our rock and will continue on after the lake goes still.
A silent warrior who fought so hard, she gave it everything she had and more. We are in absolute awe of the courage, strength, and unwavering grace she displayed throughout the course of this insidious disease.
Selfless, loyal, quiet, funny, nurturing, and giving—these are just some of the qualities that made Vicki, Vicki. She lived by example and taught us so much that we will all remember in our daily lives.
A visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 11, 4pm to 7pm with a rosary at 6pm at McCune Garden Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1:30pm.
In lieu of flowers we are asking for donations to the Forbes Norris MDA/ALS research and treatment center in SF, in the name of Vicki Hughes. Checks should be made out to “The ALS & Neuromuscular Research Foundation” and sent to 1100 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, CA.
