Vera was born on March 11, 1924 in West Plains, MO. After graduating from West Plains High School, she married Walter Bailey on May 19, 1941. In 1942 they moved to California. Vera worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Hoytt Enterprises for 25 years. She was a member of Mission Bell Chapter #205, Order of Easter Star. She loved playing Bunco with a group of dear friends in Vacaville for many years. Vera also loved to play Rummy & Pitch, travel, and go camping with her family and friends. Vera was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain. Her home was always filled with love and laughter. The great-grandchildren called her “Swimming Pool Grandma.” We will miss her every day. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Bailey; son, Larry Bailey; grandson, Aaron Carpenter; sister, Lorene Barrett; brother, Charles Hopkins; parents, Elza and Clara Hopkins, and brother-in-law Frank Stringfellow.
