Obituary for Twila Stephenson
Twila Jean Stephenson died peacefully at home on January 31, 2018, after a
long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Her husband, Bill, was by her
side. She was 69.

Twila was born May 25, 1948, in Selma California. Shortly thereafter, her
parents LeRoy and Angie Duncan moved the family to Newberg Oregon, where
Twila was raised and where she graduated from Newberg High School. Following
graduation, Twila worked at Tektronix in Beaverton, Oregon, where she built
and repaired oscilloscopes and helped with the company’s expansion. She met
Bill, her husband of 48 years, in the summer of 1968. They married July 5,
1969, and lived together in Beaverton until Bill’s job brought them to
Campbell, California in 1976.

Twila and Bill had three loving daughters, Michelle, Nichole, and Elizabeth.
In 1982, their hearts were broken with the sudden loss of their daughter
Nichole at the age of 12. They persevered through this extremely difficult
time thanks to their strong faith and family, and their unwavering support
for one another.

In 1984 the family moved to Dixon, California. Twila was a dedicated wife,
mother, and homemaker who enjoyed crafts, crocheting, and above all,
spending time with her family.

Twila was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and faced two recurrences of
the disease over the last decade. Throughout her long and difficult battle
she never gave up hope or faith. During this time she crocheted hundreds of
colorful and stylish wool hats that she donated to cancer patients and gave
freely to warm the heads of family members and friends—a symbol of her
loving and generous spirit.

Twila was preceded in death by her father, LeRoy Duncan, her daughter
Nichole Lynn Stephenson, her beloved grandmother, Flora Duncan, and her
sister Glenda Moltar. She is survived by her mother, Angie Duncan (aged 100
years), her husband Bill, her daughters Michelle Schlarman and Elizabeth
Hart, her grandsons Stephen and Ian Schlarman, her granddaughters Ava and
Olivia Hart, and her sons-in-law Douglas Schlarman and Joshua Hart.

A service honoring Twila’s life will be held at 11:00 am on February 9,
2018, at The Fathers House, 4800 Horse Creek Drive, Vacaville, CA, 95688.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NorthBay Healthcare Foundation,
4500 Business Center Drive, Fairfield, CA, 94534. Please ask that donations
be directed to the Hospice Program and Cancer Center in memory of Twila Jean
Stephenson.
