Obituary for Thomas E. Olson Jr.
Thomas E. Olson Jr., a longtime resident of Vacaville, Calif. passed away peacefully from a long bout of cancer on March 3. He was born Sept. 24, 1940 in Webster, S. D. to Augusta and Thomas Sr. He was raised with his brothers Gary Olson of Sandy, Utah, Dwight Olson of Webster, S.D., and Mike and Kileen Olson of Sturgis, S.D. Tom is survived by his loving wife Victoria of 29 + years. His family includes daughter, Dawn Olson and her three children of Grass Valley, Calif.; son, Edward Olson and his family of five children and two grandchildren of Broomfield, Colo.; and step-son, Michael Rabena and his two sons of Vacaville, Calif. After serving duty with US Air Force in the early 60s at Travis AFB, he decided to make the Fairfield/Vacaville area his home. His years of employment included the Onion Plant in Vacaville, Boilermaker in the Antioch area and many years of Public Works for Vacaville. From his teenage years in Webster and all through his life, Tom enjoyed tinkering on cars. There was hardly a weekend where he wouldnt have a car in the garage to work on or helping a fellow motor head rebuild a vehicle from the frame up. In his younger years he is remembered for not having a very good poker face. Whenever he had a good hand his face would light up with delight and he would raise with all of his chips. Of course everyone would fold to his dismay. Please join us in Celebration of his life Thursday, March 10, at 1 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel.
