Obituary for Thomas Charal Lehfeldt
Thomas Charal Lehfeldt April 24, 1946 – May 3, 2022
Thomas “Tom” Charal Lehfeldt, 76, passed away May 3rd in Vacaville. He was born April 24, 1946, in Stockton, CA to Julius Lehfeldt and Lois Picton.
Tom considered Vacaville his home. He attended Vacaville High School and after graduating he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 4 years. After his Navy service, Tom went to work for PG&E where he retired after 30 Years. Tom frequently attended a group of PG&E retirees who would get together every Tuesday for coffee at the Pure Grain Bakery in Vacaville. Tom looked forward to these meet ups.
One of Tom’s loves was trains - all models and types. He spent much of his time building and running them. He built many miniature railroads for his trains to run on including one that ran around his house and through the backyard. He also constructed a fold-out railroad in his garage.
Tom also loved spending time with his grandkids, enjoyed basketball, bowling and softball. He loved RV’ing and camping and all the adventures of the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Paula; son Jeff; grandson Austin; stepdaughter Cheryl Smith and her children, Lauren, Cameron, Catherine, and Andrew; stepson Chris; sister Janise; brother Pat and several nieces and nephews.
A committal service with military honors will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery on Tuesday, July 5th at 9:00am. All who knew Tom are welcome to come honor him. There will be a no host gathering at the Pure Grain Bakery in downtown Vacaville following the service.
