Obituary for Thomas A. Schwartz
Tom Schwartz, a resident of Paradise Valley Estates in Fairfield, CA., died following a brief illness on Feb. 13, at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Kathryn; his three children, Thomas ( Lin) of Rohnert Park, CA., John, of Snohomish, WA., Ann ( Ken) of Issaquah, WA.; grandchildren, Christine, Daniel and David. He is also survived by his step-children, Gregory Engstrom, (Candie) of San Marcos, TX., and Linda Engstrom (Kevin Ancic), and granddaughter, Andrea of Petaluma, CA. Tom enlisted in the Army Air Corps Cadet program in 1943 at the age of 18, and was trained as a central fire control gunner in B-29 bombers. Following his military service, he worked for a time in Alaska before returning to California to complete his education. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Tom joined the A.H. Robins Company in 1951 where he remained active in the firm as hospital specialist and sales supervisor until his retirement in 1985. His ready smile and outgoing personality were signature qualities, and his genuine affection for family, friends, and clients alike infused his private and professional life. A lover of all things outdoors, Tom was a passionate fisherman, hunter, hiker, and all things associated with water. He especially loved boats. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, and the Richmond Bay Club. Private services will be held at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery.
