It is with profound sadness that we report the passing of Sylvia “Teeter” Marie
Neal, at the age of 89, in Fairfield, California on Tuesday, May 28, 2025.
Teeter was born on the Indian Reservation in Rosebud, South Dakota. She
comes from a strong heritage and was considered an elder within her Lakota
family. She graduated from Orland, California High School and obtained a
Business Credential from Okaloosa Community College in Florida. She worked
for 22 years at the University of California, Davis while simultaneously being
the bookkeeper for her and her spouse’s gas station ownership.
Teeter was loved by everyone she crossed paths with. She had a loving, kind,
fun personality and never met a stranger. She raised her children in her
beloved community of Dixon California and then moved to Fairfield in 1987
after her and Bob built their forever home. She, along with her husband, spent
many years being active members of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the
Fraternal Order of the Eagles, both in Fairfield.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert A. Neal III, her two daughters,
Elaine Dado and Angie May (s: Vaughn), step-daughters; Debbie Placencia, and
Kimberly Neal; grandchildren: Eric Joseph (s: Brandi), Caprice Haan (s: Jon);
Tara Dado, Joie Nickum; great grandchildren: Victoria Gnos, Abby and Gracie
Nickum, Kylie Jo Garcia and Ellie Joseph; Brother Eric LaPointe (s: Patsy);
including a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. And her dear loving
lifelong friends too numerous to list.
McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville will host Visitation services on Monday
June 23 from 6-8 pm, and funeral services will be at same location on Tuesday,
June 24 at 10:00 am, followed by interment at the Sacramento Valley National
Cemetery in Dixon California at 12:30 pm. Celebration of Life reception at the
Fraternal Order of the Eagles, from 2-4 in Suisun City California directly
following interment.
Teeter’s spirit will be seriously missed by her family and friends – she will
remain in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Solano Care
Hospice, at 190 S Orchard Ave, Ste B 123, Vacaville CA 95688. Thank you.
