Obituary for Suzanne E. Thompson
Suzanne Elizabeth Dopkins Thompson (Feb 11, 1922 - April 3, 2016), 94, of Vacaville, CA, passed away peacefully while playing with her Burmese cats at Paramount House Senior Living in Vacaville. Born and raised in Napa, she attended University of California at Berkeley where she met her husband, G. Douglas Thompson and graduated with a teaching credential and degrees in Music and English. After the war, they returned to Doug’s home town of Vacaville to raise their family. Suzie and Doug were active members of the growing Vacaville community and shared 62 years of loving marriage before Doug passed in 2010. Suzie was passionate about music, giving vocal lessons, singing in church and even spending a year teaching music at Vaca High. She was also very active with the the Vacaville Museum Guild, The North Bay Opera Guild and the Solano Symphony League. She especially loved working with the up and coming young vocalists of the North Bay Opera Young Performers Group.
Suzie and Doug loved to travel which inspired their love of gourmet cooking. Suzie was also an avid bridge player and gardener, but most importantly, she was an amazing wife, mom, grand-mother, great-grandmother and friend who was loved, and will be missed immensely by her sur-viving family - Michelle Winchester, and her husband Tim; Melissa O’Connell, and her husband Robert; Dana, and his wife Joanna. Suzie is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
