Obituary for Steven 'Steve' Fleck
Steven F. Fleck, 57, of Sacramento, passed away suddenly while exercising on May 5. Steve was born into an Air Force family on December 22, 1952 at Castle Air Force Base in Atwater, Calif. During his youth, Steve and his family lived in California, Bermuda, Oklahoma, and Japan, before settling back into California, in Vacaville, where Steve attended Vaca High. Following high school, Steve served in the U.S. Conservation Corps in Oregon. He then served in the U.S. Army, including doing a tour in South Korea. Steve avidly pursued physical fitness throughout his life. He loved sports, both as a participant and a spectator. He was a lover of the great outdoors and enjoyed hiking. He read constantly and had a great interest in politics and history. Steve is the son of Edmund and Vera (deceased) Fleck of Vacaville. In addition to his father, he is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Fife, and his brothers, Michael and Patrick Fleck. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, May 13, between 5pm and 8pm at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main Street, Vacaville, and the funeral that will be held at McCune Garden Chapel on Friday, May 14, at 10am. The burial will follow at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to charity be made in Steve's name.
