Obituary for Stephen R. Edwards
Stephen R. Edwards died suddenly in an automobile accident caused by a stroke on Mon., Dec. 21, 2015. Stephen was a servant leader to his country, his family and his community for 70 years. Born in Los Angeles CA to Robert and Nadine Edwards, Stephen enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 16, completing both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Engineering before achieving the rank of Major during his 23 year tenure. Following the Air Force, Stephen continued serving his country for 31 years delivering lifesaving communication systems in the defense industry. Stephen poured his free time into the communities in which he lived, leading and coaching youth in football and softball. Stephen is survived by his five children Rhonda (Craig) Andrade, Stephen II (Kim) Edwards, Richard (Becky) Edwards, Jessica (Alex) Frankel and Carly (Brian) Shintaku and his eleven grandchildren Sydney, Evelyn, Aydan, Elliott, Lyam, Greta, Garin, Hayleigh, Logan, Ethan, and Lileigh. Services will be held on Fri., Jan. 22, 2016. Visitation will begin at 11:30am followed by funeral services at 12:30pm at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St, Vacaville CA 95688. Bestowing of military honors will be held at 2:30pm at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery 5810 Midway Rd. Dixon, CA 95620. Reception will follow at Olde Vets Hall, 231 N. First St., Dixon. The family requests donations to Boys Town in lieu of flowers.
