Obituary for Stella Louise Gilliam
Stella Louise (Anderson) Gilliam, 96, of Vacaville, California died Monday, August 13, 2018. She was born June 2, 1922 to James Lester Anderson and Ada Cornelia Carrigan. She was born and raised in North Platte, Nebraska and graduated from North Platte High School in May 1940. She was married to Andrew Eugene Gilliam for fifty years until his death in April 1998. She lived in many places: Nebraska, Wyoming, California, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Washington, Puerto Rico, and Missouri. She moved to Merrill Gardens in Vacaville, California in April 2005 to be near family. Later moving to Vacaville Convalescent and Rehab Center (VCRC) in April 2016. She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, going to church, singing, reading, watching movies and most of all, dancing. She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Elliott of Vacaville and Sandra Marthaler of Denver, Colorado, her two sons Allen Gilliam of Murietta, CA and Chris Gilliam of Sonoma, CA. Her four grandchildren: Debbie Conner, Cathy Fisher, Jon Thor Gilliam, Sarah Gilliam and Jonathan Marthaler. Her five great grandchildren: Julie Gabbard, James Adam Gabbard and Damien, Kai and Emily Gilliam. And her six great, great grandchildren: Chelsey and Joey Ferguson, and MacKenzie, James, Julian, and Olivia Gabbard. She is preceded in death by her husband Andrew Gilliam, her son Arthur Gilliam and her grandson Andrew Allen Marthaler, her parents and all six of her siblings. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 12:00pm-3:00pm at McCune Garden Chapel. Burial will be on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 2:00pm at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 10:00am at McCune Garden Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Disabled American Veterans.
