Shirley Ann Scribner, 71, died Saturday, April 10, 2010, at her home in Dixon surrounded by family and friends following a brief illness.She leaves her husband of 22 years, Leland Jim Scribner, her two sons and daughters-in-law Bill and Shawn and, Scott and Norma; son and son-in-law Cameron and James; stepdaughter and son-in-law Sam and Clark; stepson and daughter-in-law Matt and Brenda; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many friends and loved ones.Her brother and sister-in-law Wallace and Sherry Birdwell, sister Margurite Ruiz, sister-in-law Vadell Birdwell, and many nieces and nephews survive Mrs. Scribner.She was preceded in death by her first husband William Bill Andrews; mother and stepfather Retha and Mike Ples Stallings; father Wallace Bud Birdwell; brothers Donald, David, Gary, and Stanley; and Sisters Ima and Patsy.Mrs. Scribner worked many years as a cashier at the University of California, Davis in Davis, Calif.; and John's Liquor Store and People's Market in Dixon, Calif.Born in Buttonwillow, Calif., she later graduated from Dixon High School and became a nearly lifelong Dixon resident.Mrs. Scribner was active in the Women of The Moose and was a board member of Dixon Family Services. She was an avid reader, loved to travel, enjoyed country music and liked spending time at the ocean. A visitation will be held today, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home at 569 N. First Street, Dixon, CA 95620. Funeral services for Mrs. Scribner will be led by Catharine M. Morris, Pastor, on April 14, at 1 p.m. at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home at 569 N. First Street, Dixon, CA 95620.
