Obituary for Sharon Lynn Oppendike
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Sharon Lynn Oppendike on February 4, 2021 at the age of 66 years old.
Daughter of James "Jim" and Jeanette "Dolly" Beasley, Sharon grew up in San Leandro, CA. She often would speak with great fondness of her childhood and her great love for her parents, siblings, and extended family. One of her favorite memories was riding her bike around the block, only to be annoyed by a mischievous little boy about her age that kept laying down and blocking the sidewalk, forcing her to go around him. In true stubborn Sharon-fashion, she told him that if he didn't move on her next lap, she would run him over. Sure enough, as she approached for the third time, the boy was lying on the sidewalk in anticipation of her arrival. "Thump" ..."Thump"...she proudly rode over the boy with her bike. Little did either of them know that they would meet again 10 years later under other circumstances, fall in love, and have two children and a veritable zoo of housepets.
Sharon dedicated her life to being a homemaker for over 47 years. Her dedication to providing a loving and safe home for her husband, children, and grandchildren was her crowning achievement and top priority. She happily worked hard every day, often through ill health and physical struggles, to enable her husband and children to succeed through childhood moments, school and college, and supported them wholeheartedly in their various stressful jobs.
Her love and enjoyment of all animals, sense of humor, home-cooking, and strength in body and spirit will be remembered always by her loved ones and those who knew her.
Sharon is survived by her husband of over 47 years, Brian Oppendike Sr., Daughter Stefanie (Mike) Miller, Son Brian Oppendike Jr., grandchildren Michael, Sariah (Scott), Emily, and Riley Miller, and great-grandson Cohen.
