Obituary for Sally Dane Scaggs
Sally Dane Scaggs, 92 of Fairfield died Sunday, December 16th after a brief illness. She was born December 7, 1920 in Belgrade, Mo on her parent’s farm. Her parents John & Lulu Dane raised Sally & her 7 brothers & sisters on the rural family farm and she grew up working on the farm with her family. At 19 she left Missouri & came to California with her sister Ollie & her family. They made the trip in March of 1940 and the snow was so bad coming over Donner Pass that they closed the road behind them. She had many occupations over the years including being a waitress at the Milk Farm & Frank’s Corner Café in Dixon and working at the Glide Ranch. She & her husband Louis Scaggs (deceased) raised three sons -Roger Scaggs, Charlie Scaggs & Tommy Scaggs (deceased). She was a loving wife & mother. Among her favorite activities were bowling, camping and playing games. She had a great sense of humor and loved engaging in little jokes with family & friends. Her generous nature & loving ways were always apparent to everyone who knew her. In recent years she also took great joy in caring for her beloved cats.
