Obituary for Ruth Elma (Leonard) Bradanini
On Dec. 19, 2013 our beloved mother, Noni and friend, Ruth Bradanini, was welcomed into the arms of her Heavenly Father. After a very brief illness, she left us peacefully, surrounded by her sons, Michael (Sherry) and Raymond, daughters Kathleen Skinner (Gerald), Marie Thomas (Jim), Christine, and Lisa Bradanini. She was born in Vallejo, May 16, 1924 to Clarence and Muriel Leonard. Ruth was the second of three children. Her brothers Clifford and Fred are deceased. Her father ran a stable in Vallejo where she became an accomplished horsewoman. She would ride the hills of Vallejo traveling often to Napa and Vacaville on horseback. Ruth graduated from Vallejo High School in 1941, the same year she married her love, Rudolph Bradanini. Ruth and Rudy both enlisted in the Army during World War II. Rudy, was stationed in Japan as a MP. Ruth was assigned to duty in Des Moines, Iowa as a clerk typist. Upon being discharged from the Army, they decided to build their dream house in orchards of Fruitvale Road in Vacaville in 1954. They raised six children while living there happily until Rudolph passed away days short of their 60th anniversary. Ruth was very active in the community, especially with the PTA. She wanted to be a school advocate and was elected to the School Board from 1961 to 1966. She returned to the School Board in 1979 and served for the next fourteen years, two times as Board President. She was on the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society of Vallejo retiring after 37 years of service. St. Mary’s Catholic Church was also a passion, having been a President of St. Mary’s Women’s Club and volunteering at the church food locker. Voters will remember the Bradanini’s garage as a polling place from the early sixties through the mid-nineties. There was always coffee, cookies, and hospitality for all. Ruth retired in the early nineties. After Rudy’s passing Ruth spent many hours at the Heritage House enjoying breakfast and conversation with many good friends. She was always out and about earning her the nickname “Hot Wheels.” In 2011 Ruth began attending the North Bay Adult Day Center. There she participated in a variety of activities and had many enjoyable days made possible by Doris, Jill, Naomi, Kammy, and Vicky. She will be missed. Noni is also survived by the dear grandchildren, Aaron, Adrian, and Jolene Skinner, Jaime and Adam Bradanini, Marisa and Marchelle Bradanini, Dylan and Noel Thomas, Elizabeth, Peter, and John Neade, and great grandchildren, Logan, Peyton, Mason, and Conner Gardiner, Grace and Faith Skinner, Jordan and Ashton Holdener, Kaleb and Brodie Code, and Jake and Jeffrey Records. Ruth was predeceased by her angel Megan Lynn Thomas in 2000. Friends are welcome to attend the viewing, Sunday, Dec. 29, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m with a rosary at 7 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 30. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.Reception at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall will follow burial at the Vacaville Elmira Cemetery.
