Obituary for Rusty Graska
Rusty Valeria Graska (Garstka)
First Pitch July 18 1944- Final Out December 16 2018 Rusty was born to Leonard and Cecelia Gartska in Griswold Connecticut. She was raised in Jewett city, with her older sister Joanna and attended Catholic School. She graduated from Griswold high in 1962 where she met and then married David Graska of Jewett city. Well-traveled, she enjoyed the many different places she lived and visited due to being married to a military man. She was active in the Solano Yacht club during the 90's and into the 2000's. She was an important member of the Travis AFB Catholic church and while her children were school aged, she ran the Religious education program. Rusty was also involved in both scouting programs and sports in which her children participated. She retired from Travis Unified School District after 28 years from a career in special education and then as the attendance secretary at Golden West Middle school where she took great pride in remembering every student by name. She loved her adopted dog Drifter, who was a spoiled, faithful and loving companion for twelve years before he passed earlier this year. She loved dancing, the San Fransisco 49ers, her beloved San Fransisco Giants and planning events. Rusty is survived by her four children Melissa Schmiedt (JD), Matthew Graska (Marina), Jeffrey Graska (Michelle) and Drew Graska (Angie), her 9 grandchildren Siana, Cory, Leah, Colleen, Thonalan, Andrew, Nicholas, Brandon and Brianna and she was also blessed with 5 great-grandchildren Gauge, Farran, Addisyn (Siana), Ryker (Colleen) and Mason (Andrew). In lieu of flowers we ask that you make a donation in her name to a charity of your choice as she had many favorites. A small service will be held Dec. 28 th . Family can be reached at her home.
