Obituary for Rubye Schneider
A funeral service for Rubye Jay Schneider who passed away Feb. 22, will be celebrated on Thursday, March 1, at 3:30 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 621 So. Orchard Avenue, Vacaville. Pastor Vern Oestmann of Bethany Lutheran Church will officiate. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 29, from 5 - 6 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel. A private burial will precede the service at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. A reception at the church will follow the funeral service. Rubye Schneider was born June 18, 1921, in Lexington, Texas, she lived in Vacaville for 54 years. She was married to Harry H. Schneider, Sr. on Christmas Day 1941. Upon completion of her husband’s overseas tours, they settled in Houston, Texas. Harry accepted a position with the U.S.A.F. and later transferred to Travis AFB, California. She devoted considerable time to studying floral design and arrangements. In 1974 she established her own business, known as Rubye’s Floral and Wedding Counseling, which she enjoyed for 20 years. Her primary objective was to have every bride she worked with to enjoy their “most memorable day of their life.” Rubye and Harry Schneider celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on Christmas Day 2010. They have been residents of Vacaville since 1958. Rubye, was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, on June 22, 2011, and is survived by their daughter, J’Ann, and Bruce McEwen of Grand Rapids, Mich., a son, Harry Jr. and Gail Schneider of Seattle, Wash., and six grandsons, Henry, Malcolm, Remington and Sebastian Schneider, Michael and Keith McEwen (Lindsay McEwen) and a great-granddaughter, Madelyn McEwen.
