Obituary for Rosevelt "Frank" Porter Jr.
Rosevelt "Frank" Porter Jr., 81, passed away on Nov. 29, 2015. He was born on July 31, 1934, in Fredericksburg, Virginia to parents Rosevelt Sr. and Theresa Lee Porter. Both preceded him in passing. Frank enlisted in the USAF in 1953 and retired as a Master Sgt in 1979 after serving 26 years. During his military career he worked within both airplane and missile squadrons. Following his retirement from the Air force, Frank worked for Unocal Oil refinery in Rodeo, retiring after 17 years. Never fully in retirement mode, he worked part-time for North Bay Auto Auction in Cordelia until 2014. Frank was an avid bowler, playing on both the Travis Seniors and the Guys and Dolls leagues at Travis Bowl. He was a fan of boxing and baseball loved Blues music, enjoyed western movies and had a keen eye for classic cars. Frank was a friend to many and was known for his kind heart, genuine, down to earth personality, great sense of humor and infectious smile. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Porter; daughter, Theresa Porter; step-children, Debbra Johnson, Nancy Chaisson and George Majors; grandson, Damien Davis; step grandchildren, Frank, Cody and Antoinette; sister, Irma Gordon (Gene) and nephews, Eric and Wayde Hamilton; Frank also leaves behind a host of cousins, friends and extended family. Frank will be laid to rest with full military honors at 11 a.m. on Friday Dec. 18, 2015, at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road. Dixon, California.
