Obituary for Robert Richard Lausten
Robert Richard Lausten, 77, died on Sept. 18 at his home in Vacaville, Calif.
After receiving a diagnosis of pancreatic and liver cancer in late August, Bob\'s immediate concern was for his family, and especially for his wife, Dorothy.
Bob was blessed with many friends and family members, all of whom can tell a story of how Bob took an interest in them, played a joke on them, or thought of others first. During the short time since his diagnosis, many of those friends and family members were able to visit Bob, express their love and say goodbye.
Bob was born on Aug. 24, 1934, in Detroit, Mich. After moving to California, he was a well-loved (by humans and dogs alike) mailman for 35 years. Always one to tell a joke and share what he had with others, Bob will be missed by his wide circle of friends. Since retiring in 1999, he enjoyed playing cards and dominos, watching sports on TV, playing the horses, traveling and taking cruises with his wife.
Bob married Lola Brunton in 1960 and they had two sons. He was a devoted husband and father and cared for Lola until her death in 1988. In 1994, Bob found happiness again when he married Dorothy and he became a beloved stepfather to her seven adult children and grandfather to their children.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Richard (and wife Alison) and Larry; granddaughters, Ashley, Desire and Lola; step-granddaughter, Erin Standley; nieces, Lorrie Lausten (and Tracy) and their daughter, Jordan, and Leesa Voris (and John) and their children, Evan, Eli, Ella and Eden. He also leaves Dorothy\'s children, Ray (and Liz), Bob (and Hiroko), Carl (and Anne), Andy (and Tina), John, Jimmy and Susan; grandchildren, Alek, Samantha, Ida, Shalene, Drew, Sean, Shannon, Theresa and Patrick; and great-granddaughter, Adrianna; as well as many Brunton nieces and nephews and in-laws. He will be remembered fondly and missed by all.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Everett Lausten; mother, Dorothy Walker; brother, Larry and wife Lola.
At Bob\'s request, there will be no service.
