Obituary for Robert James Hyland

Robert, Bob, Bobby was born in San Fransisco, CA to Joseph and Florence Hyland. He grew Up in Daly City. Attended Holy Angels Catholic Elementary School where he made many friends whom he has remained in contact with throughout his life. He graduated from Westmoor Catholic High School, enjoyed Pole Vaulting, Track, Skateboarding and Frisbee.

He graduated from San Fransisco State University and achieved the degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing.

Bob was married to his first wife, Lisa Bianchini from 1985 until her passing in 2016 from a long battle with cancer.

In 2019, he married Melodie Lopez whom he met at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vacaville, CA. With Fr. Carlos Farfan, PES, and Fr. Juan Carlos Villavicenio Presiding. Aside from being an avid 49r and Giants fan, he also enjoyed back yard BBQs with friends and family, and spending time with his brothers in Christ of the St. Joseph men’s group.

Being a dedicated Catholic, Bob attended Mass regularly every Sunday, and daily Mass as much as he could. Through the gentle encouragement of Melodie and Fr. Carlos Farfan, PES, he grew deeper in his faith by participating in all the activities of Pro Ecclesia Sancta (PES) and Catholic Advance (CAM) Movement, including First Friday Mass, First Saturday Mass, Holy Hour every Thursday evening at the Pastoral house, and many celebratory events, pot lucks and fellowship, in addition to his morning coffee and prayers with Melodie in his favorite chair in the back yard. It wasn’t long before he became a family member of the PES/CAM, and St. Joseph’s Catholic men’s group. Joining this men’s group brought him so much joy! He considered these men his brothers and he loved them each dearly.

Bob is survived by his wife Melodie, sisters and brother-in-law’s, Karen and Bob Arzave, Susie and Randy Cozad, Michelle Gowan., nieces and nephews, Nick, Tony, Joey, Kyle, Gary, Ryan, Bryan, Christie, Jessica, Staphanie, Jackie, Molly, and Taylor, as well as many great nieces and nephews. He courageously endured several years of suffering with an illness that finally sent him home to our Lord.
