Obituary for Robert E. Fletcher
On March 21, 2016 Robert E. Fletcher passed away in his home with his wife Ramona, and his two stepdaughters, Linda K Green and Karen L. Coale, by his side. Robert (Bob) was born in Napa Ca. on July 4, 1924, as the only child of Albert and Pauline Fletcher. He lived in Napa all of his childhood and graduated from high school there. He played basketball in high school and had many friends and family there. He went into the Army in 1945 and was in Japan during the bombing of Hiroshima. After he left the Army he went back to Napa to live. One of his jobs was working as a bartender. He eventually had the opportunity to purchase a bar in Dixon. He moved to Dixon, bought Carl’s Club and became very active in Dixon. He loved baseball and volleyball. Bob was a very dedicated 49er fan. He went to many games even in the 70s when they were not the best as he would say. In 1975 Robert met the love of his life, Ramona. They were married the next year. When they weren’t working at the bar they would be visiting with family, here and in Oregon, going on trips to Fort Bragg, Napa and Pomona. Robert was very dedicated to the American Legion and the 40 and 8. After he retired, Bob was elected to all the chairs in those organizations. Bob and Mona were always going to American Legion conventions all over California. He was named Veteran of the Year in 2003. If there was a dinner being hosted by the Legion or the Auxiliary, you surely would hear from Bob to buy a ticket. He is survived by his wife, Ramona Fletcher, step daughter Linda K Green, Karen L Coale. Grandchildren Jack E Green, Tim Green (Danielle), Tammy Milat, Michelle DeLaPena (Skip) and ten great grandchildren.
