Obituary for Reyes Carbajal
Reyes Carbajal, age 68, passed away, Sunday, Aug. 21, after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Madelon, three children: Karen Ferrari (husband Gregory), Kevin Carbajal, and Yolanda Carbajal (husband Phil), and two grandchildren: Alyssa and Jessica. He is also survived by three siblings, Soledad Saldaña, Bertha Gomez, and Rodolfo Carbajal, Jr.
Reyes was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. He served an honorable 21 year career in the Air Force, and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force, Reyes embarked on an entire second career, serving for 20 years as a Correctional Officer for the Solano County Sheriff’s Department. Throughout his life, Reyes remained very active in various military organizations and charities. He volunteered countless hours serving the Vacaville Veterans Hall. Everyone knew Reyes as the someone who always had a smile on his face, quick with a joke, and was always willing to lend a hand.
A viewing is on Monday, Aug. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m., at McCune Garden Chapel. A Catholic Prayer service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 10 a.m. at McCune Garden Chapel Funeral Home, followed by burial at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery where he will be interred with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Vacaville Memorial Veterans Hall, 549 Merchant St., Vacaville.
