Obituary for Rebecca Lee Scott
Rebecca Lea Scott, a 46-year Dixon resident, passed quietly on November 7, 2017 at the age of 87. Becky was born August 1, 1930 in Brevard, North Carolina to parents, Robert and Pearl Callahan. She moved to Florida where she graduated from high school in 1948. She continued her education at the University of Alabama until enlisting in the US Air Force in 1952. Soon afterwards, she met and married the love of her life, Walter E. Scott, on December 31, 1952. She and Walt were married over 50 years at Walt’s passing. During her lifetime, she worked as a dental assistant and US postal worker. After she and Walt’s retirements they purchased and ran Dixon Travel for over 15 years. They, and many of their friends, traveled all over the world on many different cruise lines. Becky was a very active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She was a breast cancer survivor for over 20 years. Becky is survived by her three children, Ruth, Walter Jr. and Robert; three grandsons, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Becky was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Becky will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.
