Obituary for Ray Tate
Ray Allen Tate was born on Sept. 22, 1945 in Richmond, CA to Nell Tate (90 years old) and the late Voy Ray Tate. He passed away late Tuesday evening, May 6 surrounded by his family in a Vacaville hospital after a six month battle with multiple myeloma cancer at the young age of 68. After graduating from Clayton Valley High School in Concord, CA, Ray joined the US Army and proudly served his country while stationed in Korea. Ray was an avid Oakland A's fan. He adored his beloved Yorkies, Teddy and Lexie, and enjoyed golfing, fishing, and taking motorcycle trips with family and friends. He was a respected Maintenance Supervisor for 30 years at a Bay Area Refinery located in Rodeo, CA. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Jeanne Tate; daughter, Staci Tate; son, Ray Tate and fiance' Doreen Gleaves; grandchildren, Ray Allen Tate, Jr. and Alyssa Johnston. He was predeceased by his older brother, Frank Parrish. Other survivors include his brothers and sisters, Annette Dunning, Mary Tate Zimmerman, Robert 'Bud' Tate, John Tate, Roger Davidson, Shirley Beam and his nephew, Tim Gaul and his wife, Lorraine, many other loving nieces and nephews. We will remember him for his kindness, laughter and fun times with his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, June 1 at the Vacaville Opera House, 560 Main St., from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m., Military Honors will take place at 6 p.m. www.mcccunechapel.com.
