Obituary for Orval Francis Sievers
Orval lived a very long and full life, passing away at the age of 95. He was born in Woodland, California in 1924. He was raised on the Sievers ranch with his parents, Otto and Anna Sievers. He was the youngest of the family. He had a half sister, Anona (Higby) and his sister Dorothy (Orr). He farmed all his life with his dad and later on his own. He grew up in Dixon and graduated from Dixon High School. He met his future wife at the Dixon Theater. Her name was Marjorie McFadgen. They married and a home was built for them on the Sievers ranch. They raised two daughters, Claudia and Lesley. They were happily married for 22 years.
Among his many interests, he was a 50 year member of the California State Grange. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodges and a charter member of Yolo Shrine Club and Montezuma Shrine Club. He belonged to the Dixon Senior Club and was a very involved member of the Dixon Historical Society. He was a blood donor with Bloodsource donating 18 gallons in his lifetime.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest sister, Anona, and his wife Marjorie. He is survived by his daughters, Claudia Zavala, Lesley Sievers Fong and Goddaughter Shanna Lyon Gong. He was a grandfather to 3; Marjorie Fong Salo (Patrick), Roger Clinton Fong (Christine) and Martin Orval Fong (Irene). He was blessed with 7 great grand children, Joy, Jonah and Jax Salo, Dianna & Christiana Fong and Amaryah & Raya Fong. He was a very loved Dad, brother, Uncle, Grandfather and friend. We will all miss him very much!
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 starting at 11am at the Dixon United Methodist Church, 209 N Jefferson St, Dixon. Orval will be laid to rest at a private service at the Silveyville Cemetery in Dixon.
