Obituary for Orene Crocker
Orene Crocker, 80 of Vacaville, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 4, 2016, in the presence of her daughters. Orene was very involved in the LDS church, serving as Relief Society President and performed many years of temple work. She worked with a group who made meals for the homeless and taught Sunday school for many years; loving the children as her own. Orene enjoyed her quilting group who donated many children’s quilts and comforters to local hospitals. She was a fan of gardening, camping, traveling and Hershey bars. Born May 26, 1935, in Lehi, Utah to David Ward and Rose Evelyn Christofferson, the family moved to Vallejo when Orene was a youngster where she attended school. She married Leonard Kuhn in 1953, and had two children with him before his death in 1958. Orene married Howard O. “Mike” Crocker in 1960 and they had two children who died shortly after birth. Mike adopted Orene’s daughters and was a loving and devoted father and grandfather to their children. In 1965, the family moved to Fairfield, where Orene resided until 2014 when she moved to Vacaville to be closer to her daughters. She is survived by daughters, Jan Crocker Larsen and Jerilyn McCord (Allen); sister, LaRae Kuhn (Ken); grandchildren, David Yoha, Michael Yoha, Jeremiah McCord (Kate), Jon McCord (Krista) and Alex Larsen; great-grandchildren, Lilly Yoha, Savannah and Troy Huff, Reid and Finn McCord, Gwendolyn Fink-McCord and Kellen McCord; niece, Kristi Ferrando; nephews, Jason Crocker and Michael Kuhn; sister-in-law, Grace Crocker; cousin, Irene Bringman. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Crocker; children, Howard Scott and Roseanna; brother, Orlan Christofferson; brother-in-law, Phillip Crocker; and beloved niece, Kimberly Kuhn; nephew, Scott. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on March 21, 2015, at Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, 311 Alamo Drive, Vacaville. A time of reflection will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. in the Relief Society Room A private burial will follow the service and is limited to family members. Contributions in Orene’s memory may be made to the LDS Church Humanitarian Fund in care of Bishop Richard Dawson, 311 Alamo Drive, Vacaville, CA 95688.
