Obituary for Ord Kyte
Ord Kyte died in Perkins Okla. surrounded by his loved ones on Feb. 6. He was born at home on Sept. 17, 1920 just outside of Superior, Neb. and was raised in Kansas until traveling to California with his family during the Dust Bowl at the age of 15. There he continued his schooling even spending a year at the Sherman Indian High School. He married his Dorothy Davis of Janesville, Calif. in 1940. He served in the Pacific during World War II from 1944 to 1946. After the war, he worked at Mare Island and owned a number of small businesses including Western Ranch Supply. He also did flood control for the city of Vacaville for a number of years. Ord became a Seventh-day Adventist shortly after the war and was a founding member of the Fairfield Seventh-day Adventist Church. Ord was a tireless benefactor for schools and orphanages in Mexico. He lived in Mix Canyon for 40 years until his health declined and moved to Oklahoma to be near his family there. Ord was preceeded in death by two of his children. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kyte of Perkins, Okla.; sister, Provie Whitfield of Vacaville; sons, Wes Kyte of Dixon and Dwayne Kyte of Vacaville; daughter, Karen Murcia of Guthrie, Okla.; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
