Obituary for Nicholas O'Keefe Canalita
Nicholas O'Keefe Canalita at 65 years old, well known for his smiling countenance and kindness to many, spent his last moments in Sacramento. He passed unexpectedly, but peacefully from this world into the eternal on March 15, 2015 . Born on February 17, 1950 in Cebu, Philippines to Lawrencio Canalita and Magdalena O’Keefe. Married on the 21st night of September in 1968 to his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Suzanne Cecilia Morales. He became a Journeyman Electrician and spent 32 years with IBEW Local 6 in San Francisco. He founded Vacaville Bobby in 1983 as a grassroots effort to introduce fast-pitch softball to Vacaville’s youth. He lived in Cebu, Phillipines, San Francisco, Pacifica, Vacaville and Sacramento. He enjoyed family, traveling, sports and people. Nick never met a stranger. Survived by: wife, Suzanne C. Canalita, brothers: Paul Canalita, Francis Canalita, Phil Canalita, Manuel Canalita, children: Monica married to Jeff Arnett, Mona married to Rich Begell, May married to Tony Onisko and Megan Canalita along with grandchildren: Lindsay married to David Lahl, Evan Arnett, Grant Arnett, Drew Arnett, Paige Begell, Bryce Begell, Anthony Onisko and Landon Onisko. Predeceased by his mom, dad and sister Filomena Flores. Service: Friday, March 20, 2015 at St. Mary’s in Vacaville, CA. Officiate : Father James Murphy. Immediately followed by the burial at the Vacaville Cemetery followed by a celebration of his life at Valley Church in Vacaville.
