Nancy Hales passed away in her home in Vacaville after a brief illness. She was a long-time educator in Vacaville who touched many lives.
Nancy was born in Van Nuys California. She graduated from Van Nuys High School, got her BA at Pomona College and her Masters at UCLA.
Nancy moved to Vacaville in the late 1950’s and she started her teaching at Jepson Middle School where she met her future husband Richard. After Nancy and Richard retired, they enjoyed traveling and cruising which they were able to continue throughout retirement. In addition, they, with their son Greg, went up every fourth of July to visit family in Oregon for several years. They made countless trips to Nevada City to visit Richard’s Sister Mary and her family.
Among her many activities before and after retirement she enjoyed fishing, and being a member of such groups as the Vacaville Saturday Club (50 years) and PEO (74 years).
Nancy is survived by her son Greg, daughters Liza (Matt), Suisan (Thomas), grandchildren Jeremy (Maryanne), Erika, and great-grandchildren Lauren and Kaitlyn. Her kindness and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Richard (July 4, 2023) to whom she was married for over 60 years.
A viewing will be at McCune Garden Chapel on 212 Main Street Vacaville on Monday September 25th from 4-7pm. Funeral service will be at the Church of Epiphany Vacaville 300 West Street Vacaville on Tuesday September 26th at 10:00am. Interment at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery will be at a later date.
