Obituary for Monserrate Tamariz Mercado
Monserrate Tamariz Mercado peacefully passed away on Friday the 28 of June. She passed away at the age of 86 surrounded by her loving family.
Monserrate was known as Monse to family and friends. The Dixon community was her home for 26 years. She was born April 27, 1933, in the small town of La Maria, Puerto Rico. She was born to Juan Mercado and Viva Mercado. Monse was the second of eight children. In her life, she gave birth to 11 wonderful children and was blessed with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Monse was very passionate about music. Her life was always filled with music which also led to her passion for dancing; there was not one day that went by that she didn’t dance. Monse also had a very giving heart. She enjoyed cooking homemade food which was enjoyed by many. She loved to sew and made countless items such as bows and dresses for her children, grandchildren including great-grandchildren and friends. Monse had a vast collection of dolls which she collected throughout her life; she kept her mother’s doll by her side until the very end. Her dolls meant the world to her and she always had them on display. Monse was known to be a loving sweet person, in correlation she loved her sweets. The most important aspect of her life was her family. She included her family in everything that she did from daily trips around town to her lively Christmas parties.
Monse will be most remembered for the love and compassion by all who knew her. Her passionate spirit will be survived by her living children, numerous grandchildren including the great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren along with the rest of her living family.
The viewing will be held Tuesday, July 9 at the Milton Carpenter funeral home between 10 a.m. to noon. Shortly after the viewing, there will be a mass at 1 p.m. at the St. Peter Catholic Church. After the mass, the burial ceremony will be held at the Dixon Silveyville Cemetery district at 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Condolences and flowers may be sent to 569 N. First St, Dixon, CA.
