Obituary for Milton Moore
Milton Moore, a long time resident of Vacaville (Leisure Town), CA, passed away at home Oct 10. Milton was born Jan. 1, 1919 in Akron, Ohio, and resided in northeastern Ohio, working at Goodyear Aircraft until 1960, when he took a job with Aero Jet General and moved to Fair Oaks, CA. He later went to work at the Mare Island Ship Yard in Vallejo, CA., where he worked until his retirement in 1985, except for two years between 1971 - 1972 when he worked at the naval shipyard in Bremerton, WA. Milton proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy aboard the USS Kaskaskia during WWII. He truly was part of the Greatest GenerationMilton was a skilled machinist his entire adult life, and received several awards for his outstanding work. He was also a member of The Masons. He was a good, hard-working, simple man, requiring very little to make him happy. His most enjoyable moments were on the lake or on a river-bank with his fishing pole. When he was a young man he enjoyed fishing the lakes of Ohio and southeastern Canada (including ice fishing). After he moved to California, he took great pleasure fishing the lakes and streams of northern California and the Sierras. During his retirement years he derived much pleasure from having a large garden and sharing the overflow with his neighbors. He really enjoyed the outdoors and being at one with nature.Milton is survived by his daughters, Kathy Coops (son-in-law Tom) of Boise, ID, and Roberta Aquino (Vacaville) , as well as four grandchildren, Laura (Coops) Shankel, Christina (Coops) Redmond, Victoria Aquino and Nick Aquino; and 10 great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at the McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville Oct. 19, at 10 a.m., where he will receive Military honors. Donations may be made in Miltons name to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 Eighteenth St., NW, Washington, DC 20006 or to the Shriners Hospital (Shrinershq.org).
