Obituary for Mike (Mike) Thomas Walters
Michael (Mike) Thomas Walters of Vacaville passed away peacefully in his sleep during an annual camping trip in the Lassen National Forest on July 19 at the age of 61. Born in Fairfield on January 29, 1955, Michael was the second son and fourth child of Dolores (Snooky) and Rose Walters. He attended Vacaville High School as a member of the graduating class of 1973. Michael was a student athlete during his years at Vacaville High, and received a letter for playing on the varsity baseball team. Upon completion of high school, Michael followed multiple family members, most notably his older brother, Joe, by becoming a lineman with Pacific Gas and Electric. He was employed by PG&E for 39 years, retiring only months before he passed. Michael will be remembered by his love of family, music, sports, and fishing. Every year he looked forward to camping and fishing at Hat Creek with his family more than anything. He enjoyed being in charge of keeping the fire and music going every year in the Cave Campground at Hat Creek. Michael found peace in the forest near the water with a fishing rod in his hand surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his sister Kathleen (John) Ford of Santa Rosa; brother Tim Walters of Suisun; sister-in-law Sharon (Joe) Walters of Vacaville; niece Ashley Edwards of Vacaville; nephews, Tim Walters of Dixon, and Nick (Janet) Walters of Winters; as well as multiple great nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose, father Dolores (Snooky); sister Patricia (Patsy); brother Joseph (Joe); brother-in-law John; and numerous other family members and friends. A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for Sunday, August 28th at the Vacaville Moose Lodge located at 6585 Gibson Canyon Road, Vacaville between 2:00pm-5:00pm. Light refreshments will be served and all are encouraged to dress casually and comfortably while accompanying the family in celebrating Mike’s life.
