Obituary for Mei Watkins
Mei Watkins, a 26-year resident of Vacaville, passed away on May 6th after suffering a severe stroke while on vacation in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mei was born and raised on a farm in Taiwan but she left to explore the world by working as a seamstress and homemaker in Taipei where she married and brought forth three wonderful children.
She later married an Air Force airman who brought the family to California where everyone prospered and started families of their own. She leaves behind sons Kai and Chung, daughter Julie, four beloved grandchildren and third husband Eric.
Mei's many passions included planting and harvesting fresh vegetables and fruit from her eclectic mix of fruit trees. She also enjoyed cooking traditional Chinese food recipes with plenty of fresh fish involved. She continued to sew and crochet to feather the nest with beautiful blankets and other luxuries.
As a smart shopper, her favorite victory was to visit the Ross store on senior discount days and purchase an oversized outfit which she would tailor down to fit her figure like a glove, and then use the leftover trimmings to create scarves and hair bands from the matching material. She always received rave reviews when she dressed up to go out.
Mei will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family and many friends. Her family would like to thank the medical professionals at Desert Springs Hospital and Valley Hospital in Las Vegas for their dedication and compassion during her dire need.
