Obituary for Maye Roberta Hatcher
Maye R. Hatcher passed away in Vacaville early Friday, May 12th at the age of 97. Maye was born, raised, and attended school in Orland, California. She married O.M. (Bill) Hatcher in 1938. At the outbreak of WWII, the family moved to Vallejo, California where both Maye and Bill worked in the US Navy Shipyard on Mare Island. At war’s conclusion, the Hatchers returned to Orland and Maye focused on raising their children. Additionally, Maye went to work for T.M. Duche Nut Company and later the Continental Nut Company. Maye played softball in her youth and remained an avid sport fan her entire life. Later in life she enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling to visit family. Maye is survived by her children: Travis, Jerry (Lola), Bonnie (Allen) and Tom (Michelle); 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Maye’s husband Bill predeceased her. Maye’s viewing will be held on Monday, May 22nd from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Milton Carpenter Funeral Home, 569 N. First St., Dixon, CA. Her funeral will be on Tuesday, May 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at the Dixon United Methodist Church, 209 N. Jefferson, Dixon, CA 95620. Maye’s burial will on Wednesday May 24th at 11:00 a.m. at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, 3900 County Rd. P, Orland, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you make donation to the Dixon United Methodist Church’s Stephen Ministry at the above address.
