Obituary for MaryLou Gustavsen
MaryLou Gustavsen, 75, long time Vacaville resident died on Saturday June 12, in Vacaville after a long battle with MS.MaryLou was born on Aug. 25, 1934 to Salvador and Elizabeth Sardo in the original Vacaville hospital located on Elizabeth St.MaryLou graduated from Vacaville High School in 1952. While in high school she worked at the Vacaville theatre. After she graduated high school she went to work at Travis AFB, where she met and became the bride of Robert (Bob) Gustavsen Sr. After returning from a deployment in Naples Italy Marylou worked as the executive secretary for the Sierra Childrens Home of Solano County.MaryLou enjoyed spending time with family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Holidays were a special time for her as she would spend many hours decorating for each one. MaryLou was a great cook who loved to cook for family and friends.MaryLou was predeceased by her father Sal Sardo and her husband Bob.She is survived by her mother Elizabeth (Lee) Sardo, son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Bernie Gustavsen, daughter Kathy Gustavsen, grandson Billy and wife Jenn Gustavsen, grandson Michael Gustavsen, and 3 great grandchildren Alexis, Haley and Billy Jr.She was truly an enjoyable, loving and caring person who enriched the lives of so many. She will be dearly missed.A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 30 at 10 a.m. at Mccune Garden Chapel in Vacaville. Following the service MaryLou will be laid to rest beside her husband at a graveside service at the Vacaville Elmira cemetery.
