Obituary for Mary B. Harris
Mary Harris of Vacaville, California died at the age of 80. She was born in Santa Rosa, California and graduated from UCLA with a BA in Interior Design. Mary raised her three sons in Palos Verdes, California before making the move with Bob to Vacaville in 1994. She was the Marketing Director of the Solano Mall where she became engaged as an active member of the community. Upon retiring she jumped into volunteer work full time with the Dixon May Fair which included several terms as president, Soroptimist International of Vacaville where she was as past president as well as holding other offices, Vacaville Museum where she was a past president and On Stage Vacaville. She served as the Regent of the Chief Solano Chapter DAR from 2014 to 2016. Through her volunteer work some of the items she will be remembered for is starting a reading program for youth through Soroptimist as well sponsoring a ward at the Yountville Veterans Home with the DAR. She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Clark and Theresa of Woodinville, Washington, Robby and Jessica of Vacaville, California, Nolan and Elly of San Clemente, California; and her four grandchildren, Jack, Cole, Amelia and Grant. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Robert 'Bob' Harris. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018, at McCune Garden Chapel In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in her name at Soroptimist International of Vacaville, P.O. Box 6054, Vacaville, CA 95696.
