He graduated from Ukiah High School. Martin left home in 1940 to study at UC Berkeley but interrupted his studies to join the Army Air Force in 1942. While stationed in the European theatre, Martin achieved the rank of captain and piloted a B-26 Marauder. Following WWII, Martin earned a B.S degree in Business Administration from UC Berkeley and began his accounting and auditing career. After working in the private sector in San Francisco for over 20 years, he became a supervisor in the Solano County Auditor-Controller’s Office until his retirement in 1984. Martin met Helen, his future wife, while both were working at the same company in San Francisco. Martin married Helen in 1952. She was his devoted wife for more than 60 years until her death in March of this year. Martin was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather with a good sense of humor. His family could always count on him for his help and advice.
